American Dream Success Story

Last week I received one of the best blog comments ever written on InternetIndependence.com.

It contained this quote, which I thought was fantastic:

4 am – it’s not that early when you want it bad enough.”

So I asked the author, Mike Whitfield, to share his American Dream Success Story with us today. Here it is…and I’m sure you’ll agree, there’s no stopping Mike – or people who share the same attitude.

Craig,

I just wanted to share with you how much you and your Internet Independence website have impacted my recent success.

Over two years ago, I came up with an idea of putting together a compilation of “workout finishers“, which I had used with my clients and boot campers. They even thought it was a great idea.

Unfortunately, at that time, I just didn’t know where to start. I put that idea on the shelf and thought, “maybe one day”.

Well earlier this year, you started the Internet Independence website. The info was great, and I felt I wasn’t alone because I saw so many others having the same struggles and challenges as they started their online business. My desire started to “brew” about my dream product again.

Just like your website says, I started to blog about workout finishers to see what kind of feedback I would get. People loved it. They were emailing me, responding to the blogs (especially your Turbulence Training blog) and posting on my facebook page how much they loved them. That’s when it hit me – people wanted more of it.

It was missing from the market. I found my niche.

I knew I had to be efficient if I wanted to start my online business as I took care of my clients and boot campers. As a matter of fact, I still remember asking on your II site about some software to use to build my site. Your reply was something like, “you could use that, but I guarantee it is not in your 5%”.

So, I stepped out of my comfort zone and outsourced all the graphics and layout to someone else, while I did the things that only I could do, which was put together the product and write.

Honestly, I was overwhelmed at first. I kept thinking about all the videos I would have to put together, how I would lay it all out, what bonuses to offer, etc., etc. But just like your site says, I just blocked out time and did things in chunks.

I was excited, but I knew I had to roll up my sleeves and get to work. So, I set my alarm at 4 am each morning and worked on my online business before I would go to the gym and take care of my clients.

I then read your posts about setting deadlines and got even more fired up. Knowing that the Turbulence Training Summit was approaching, I wanted to have my product complete by the time I got in San Diego.

That kept me going and getting me up early every day. If my wife had a “girls night out” on the weekend, I would even utilize that time to get it done.

Every once in a while, I would get overwhelmed with how much I had to get done. But those simple, yet powerful words, “Never, Ever Give Up
resonated with me.

As I got more accomplished, the more I could see that I was closer to a finished product and I met my goal by two days.

Thanks to your guidance and using the II site as a step-by-step guide, I launched my first product on Clickbank just last week.

Craig, I have sold over 450 copies! It was one of the most exciting weeks of my entire life.

I honestly didn’t realize how far I have come until I recently joined your mastermind group. Rick Kaselj, who is also in the group, sent me an email pretty much laying out everything I had accomplished in the last few months.

I thought it was very cool of him, and I was blown away seeing all the accomplishments on paper. Because you emphasize networking with other like-minded individuals, I’m looking forward to the Las Vegas Project in October.

You know what’s so great about this? Most of this was done in a corner of my dining room because I lost my office when my wife and I had our first child.

My “office” is literally a small corner desk near a kid’s bouncy seat in the dining room, in which I stub my toe on 7 out of 10 mornings when getting to it at 4 am. It’s so worth it.

Thank you so much for the awesome info, inspiration and guidance. I hope this helps anyone on your list realize that you don’t need a fancy office or to be extremely tech-savvy to experience dreams.

It just takes getting out of your comfort zone, staying connected through this blog and others who inspire you, and rolling up your sleeves and getting your hands dirty.

Thanks again for all you do,

Mike Whitfield
