The three grand I made almost instantly was just the beginning.

You see, I’d taken advantage of a powerful strategy that many people overlook. It can result in immediate cost savings or an income boost. It can help generate continuous, long-term streams of cash. It can help you attract new customers and explore easier, faster ways to spread your marketing message. It can give you personal access to high-level mentors. It can produce new partnerships. It can introduce you to cutting-edge technologies. It can help you start a successful business. And much more.

In my case, it gave me an “insider’s” look at a simple technique that made it possible for me to take a product I was about to launch and produce a $3,000 profit in only a couple of days.

But, as I said, that was only the beginning…

Employing this powerful strategy also allowed me to hook up with a hugely successful Internet publisher who agreed to market another one of my products to his list of hundreds of thousands of qualified prospects. And because we did this deal on a joint venture basis, I didn’t risk one nickel. He sent out a promotion to his list, and we split the profits.

This is just the tip of the iceberg. I use this strategy religiously – and it always puts real money directly into my bank account.

The best part is, it often requires little more than sitting back and listening to a slew of experts (and perhaps taking notes). Sure, putting what you learn from them into action takes a little extra “work” – shaking hands, pitching your product and business, and following up. But it is surprisingly fun.

Sounds nice, doesn’t it?

I call this strategy the “Moneymakers’ Marketplace” secret. And you can use it to power up your income, form profitable business alliances, and get breakthrough cash-generating ideas from the top people in your industry.

Putting the Moneymakers’ Marketplace secret to work is a simple three-step process:

Step 1. Subscribe to and read the top newsletters and magazines in your field. If you are a dog breeder, for example, read the top dog breeding publications. If you are a beer brewer, read the top beer brewing publications.

You probably do this already. In fact, if you are involved in Internet marketing, I know you do it… because you are reading Early to Rise!

Step 2. When these publications host live events – conferences, seminars, workshops – do whatever you can to attend. Where else are you more likely to connect with people who share your business interests? Maybe more important, where are you more likely to hear from – and be able to interact with – people who have the latest and best information about your industry?

That’s why I call these events Moneymakers’ Marketplaces.

Step 3. You go, you listen, and you learn. And then you ACT on what you learned.

That is exactly what I did to secure both of the deals I mentioned earlier (and many others).

Let me tell you a little more about the one that put $3,000 in my pocket in just a few days.

I’ve flown clear across the country to put the Moneymakers’ Marketplace strategy to work, and it was always well worth it. This time, the opportunity was a lot closer – a business-building conference right in my hometown.

When I found out about it, I signed up right away.

At the time, I was preparing to release my latest educational product, a program on how to get rich by making deals with bigger partners. And though I was introduced to a lot of great ideas at the conference, there was one I knew I could put into action immediately: three powerful ways to launch a product on the Web. It was shared with conference attendees by one of the top Internet marketing gurus out there.

Briefly, here’s what he told us during his presentation:

  • To get people excited about your product launch, post brief “teaser” videos on your website.
  • E-mail a countdown to your e-mail list during the five days prior to the product release, mentioning a different product benefit each day.
  • Send out news releases to other publishers and bloggers.

I knew he was right on the money. So as soon as I got home, I did what he said.

The results: A clean three grand in my bank account within days.

If you don’t yet have a business of your own, I can think of no better way to quickly come away with the inspiration – and concrete ideas – you need to get started than to take advantage of the Moneymakers’ Marketplace.

Even if you already have a business, I still think it’s one of the smartest things you can do to help grow your income.

Every time I employ the Moneymakers’ Marketplace strategy, I pick up something new and valuable. And now you’ve got an opportunity to do it too – and very soon.

You can use the Moneymakers’ Marketplace strategy this November, when ETR gathers together a dozen of the Internet’s foremost thought leaders for a roundtable like you’ve never seen.

My 5 Rules for New-Job Success

By Michael Masterson

Whether you’re entering the workforce for the first time or have years of experience, keep the following in mind when moving into any new position:

  • Spend the first several weeks taking everything in. Be eager and helpful, but don’t be too aggressive and don’t get into arguments or debates. Now is the time to learn everything you can about your new work environment. Much of what you need to learn will be hidden from you if you pose a threat.
  • Networking is extremely important to your career. But – for the reasons stated above – you don’t want to go after the powerful people in your company in a pushy way. In the beginning weeks, make a strong effort to make friends with everybody. Making enemies early on – even with seemingly unimportant people – can cause serious problems later.
  • Come in early and stay late. But not too early or too late. You want to establish a reputation as an enthusiastic employee and a hard worker, not a goody-two-shoes.
  • When you have firmly established good relationships with everyone you work with, gradually increase your efforts – coming in earlier, volunteering for jobs, taking on extra assignments, and setting up information interviews with the movers and shakers.
  • As your performance improves and you start accomplishing major goals for the company, stay humble with your fellow workers. But make sure your boss (and your boss’s boss) knows that you are a superstar in the making.

Break Away From Old Ideas

By Brian Tracy

Highly creative people tend to have fluid, flexible, adaptive minds. You can see it in three statements they commonly make.

The first is simply “I was wrong.”

Non-creative people are so concerned with being right that all their mental energy is consumed by stonewalling, bluffing, blaming, and denying. If you’re wrong, admit it… and get on to the solution or the next step.

The second is “I made a mistake.”

Non-creative people think it is a sign of weakness to admit to having made a mistake. On the contrary, it is a sign of mental maturity, personal strength, and character. (Remember, everybody makes mistakes every single day.)

The third statement is “I changed my mind.”

It is amazing how many uncomfortable situations non-creative people get into and stay in because they are unwilling or afraid to admit that they’ve changed their minds.

Here are two ways you can break away from those old, limiting ideas and become a more creative thinker.

1. Be willing to admit that you are not perfect, you make mistakes, you are wrong. This is a mark of intelligence and courage.

2. When you get new information, be willing to change your mind. Most of what you know about your business today will change completely in the coming years, so be the first to recognize it.

11 Natural Methods for Fighting Anxiety

By Dr. Ray Sahelian

It seems like I receive at least one e-mail every day from someone asking about herbs that can treat anxiety and help them sleep.

As a result of the ongoing recession, this problem has become commonplace. According to a poll by the American Psychological Association, 80 percent of respondents reported significant stress because of the economy. And the National Sleep Foundation’s 2009 Sleep in America poll found that nearly one-third of people surveyed weren’t sleeping well due to increased anxiety.

Many are visiting their doctors to get sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medications. However, you don’t have to go the pharmaceutical route. There are plenty of natural alternatives. Exercise, deep sleep, and yoga, for example, have been proven to help many. Meditation and prayer works for others. In addition, there are several over-the-counter supplements to consider.

Kava is one of the most potent anti-anxiety herbs. In a recent study, Australian researchers gave 60 adults with chronic anxiety symptoms either kava or a placebo for one week. The second week, placebo patients were switched to kava and kava patients to the placebo. Anxiety symptoms declined for the patients on the kava extract, as did depression symptoms in some – often within an hour or two after taking it. However, there have been rare reports of liver damage when kava has been used daily. For this reason, I recommend taking kava no more than three days a week.

Another herb I like is passionflower. Its effects (which include relaxation and sleepiness) begin in an hour or two. Passionflower is quite safe, and can be used on the days when kava is not taken.

Ashwagandha is an Ayurvedic herb that many find helpful in easing tension.

Certain amino acids and related compounds are popular for stress relief. These include 5-HTP, GABA, and theanine. I personally have not found GABA to be very effective, although some people really like it. 5-HTP helps to balance mood, reduces tension, and – like theanine – helps with sleep. The timing of these supplements depends on the severity of your anxiety. They can be taken during the day if you are very anxious. But if your symptoms are milder and you just need a natural pill to help you relax after work, they can be taken in the early evening.

If you are still having trouble sleeping, I have formulated an excellent product called Good Night Rx. A capsule is taken 2 to 4 hours before bed on an empty stomach, and the vast majority of users find they get a deeper and more restful sleep with hardly any side effects. Wait at least a half hour after taking Good Night Rx before eating dinner or a late snack.

It’s Good to Know: One Part of the Economy Is on the Upswing

In times of economic uncertainty, people look for an escape from their financial worries – and Hollywood magic has become a popular refuge.

A recent study by the National Association of Theatre Owners showed that movie ticket sales were up in the first quarter of 2009, a 9 percent increase over the first quarter of 2008. Why? The trade group says it’s because going to the movies is a relatively inexpensive entertainment option. (They neglected to mention the $5 tub of popcorn.)

Word to the Wise: Moxie

“Moxie” (MOK-see) – from the name of a soft drink popular in the 1920s – is courage and determination; aggressive energy.

Example (as used by Lauryn Hill in the lyrics to “Take It Easy”): “I got moxie, I’m so damn foxy / Industry try to block me like cops and paparazzi.”

Paul Lawrence

Paul Lawrence is an entrepreneur who has made his living starting and running a series of profitable businesses. One day while cleaning his mother’s pool for a few extra bucks, it dawned on Paul that he could perhaps start his own pool cleaning business. He carefully employed all the marketing techniques that he had learned in school and designed his first flyer. Immediately the business took off and within a week, Paul had his own little business. He quickly expanded, hired employees and then eventually sold it some relatives who made well over $250,000 in the next year before they eventually sold it for a six figure profit.
After finishing college, Paul did a brief stint in a management program for a national rental company, but he quickly realized that he was much happier running his own show. Paul left the rental company and launched one of the most financially successful independent ballroom dance instruction companies in the state of Florida where he received quite a bit of media attention for his revolutionary business practices that included front page features in the Life Style section of the Sun Sentinel, features in the Miami Herald, Boca News, Center Stage Entertainment and many others. With that business running profitably, Paul started several other businesses either individually or as partnerships that included a million dollar video production company, a mortgage brokerage, a home maintenance business, several mail order companies, a business consulting service among others. With a love of movies, Paul began to work at breaking into Hollywood as a screenwriter where he’s beaten the odds by becoming a produced writer. He is a credited writer for the film CRUEL WORLD, starring Jaime Presley and Eddie Furlong and has signed a development deal for a national television series with one of the world’s largest producers of television and films among his half a dozen sales and options of movie scripts he wrote. Paul is the creator of the Quick & Easy Microbusiness program.
