Of course, as with every year, I’m sure the season of life came with its ups, downs, trials, and tribulations, but at the end of the day, may you look back on 2018 with a big smile on your face and think, “What a ride.”

But regardless of how last year went, today I want to teach you the exact formula that will help you make next year a massive success.

One of my big goals in 2019 is to help 1000 entrepreneurs achieve “2X and 10 Less Status.

That stands for doubling their income and working 10 fewer hours each week.

1.  Begin and End with Your Year with Gratitude  


Before you write down any of your goals or start thinking about the people with whom you need to connect in 2019, I first want you to take a step back and think about
all of the things that happened in 2018 for which you are grateful.

Take a minute right now to think about the people and experiences that impacted you most the last 12 months.

Who did you meet that changed your life? What experiences did you have that opened your eyes to new ways of thinking and acting?

What major events happened in 2018 that helped make you who you are today?

By cultivating a sense of gratitude for the things that happened to for you during 2018, you can fully appreciate the great things that happened over the year and mentally transform the challenges and failures that you experienced as catalysts for major growth.

When you can put yourself into a state of complete gratitude, your fears, insecurities, and worries will fade into the distance and you will be able to think about and plan for your New Year from a place of true power.

Take five minutes to do this right now…

Pull out a pen and sheet of paper and write down the 5 people and 5 experiences for which you were most grateful in 2018.

I promise you’ll feel amazing when you’re done.

 

2. Ruthlessly Cut Out Everything that Doesn’t Push You Towards Your Vision


If you want to do great things, you must start by doing fewer things.

Or, as I like to say, “Be the best at less, not mediocre at most”.

Here’s the deal…

If you want to achieve big things in 2019, if you want to make huge leaps, create a legacy, and truly build your Perfect Life, then you must start by ruthlessly cutting out everything that does not push you towards your biggest vision.

To do this, you are going to leverage two simple tools.. .

The first is what I call your, “Not to Do List”.

This is the list of ALL the habits, activities, and tasks that hold you back from success. And, as the name implies, it’s a list of the habits, activities, and tasks which you will no longer do.

For me, my Not to do list (although it’s constantly changing and evolving as I grow) looks something like this…

  • I will NOT check email before 8 a.m. (remember, I’m up at 4 a.m!)
  • I will NOT hit snooze
  • I will NOT get drunk
  • I will NOT allow myself to be distracted by social media
  • I will NOT handle tasks which can be easily delegated

Take a few minutes right now to write out your not-to-do list and think about those habits that are stopping you from becoming the person that you need to become.

Once you have your not-to-do list written, we’re going to create a second and equally powerful list… The “Not My Job” List.

If you are serious about growing your business and increasing your income, then you MUST cut out all of those little “time vampires” that steal your minutes away and cause you to focus on unimportant tasks.

What things are you spending time on that are outside of your area of genius or aren’t necessary for you to do?

For me, my “Not my job list” looks like this…

  • It is not my job to upload, edit, or format any content for Early to Rise (but I will write it!)
  • It is not my job to handle administrative tasks that can be easily outsourced
  • It is not my job to book flights, negotiate accommodations, or handle any travel arrangements

… Ok, so there’s a LOT more on my list, but you get the idea.

When you cut out the time wasters and energy vampires from your schedule you free yourself up to do GREAT work instead of BUSY work allowing to make huge leaps forward in your life and business.

 

3. OWN the First 90 Minutes of Your Day (Like This)


How did you start your day today?

Did you hit snooze, wake up 30 minutes before your first engagement, and then spend your day in a desperate reactive scramble to get things done?

Or did you control your morning, wake up hours before you needed to, invest those precious early hours into your most important tasks and proceed to conquer the day?

If you want to achieve your biggest goals and dreams in 2019, then you must commit to controlling your mornings so that you can conquer your days and live your Perfect Life.

Luckily, this is a lot simpler than most people think.

In 2019, I want you to make one simple commitment.

You ready?

I want you to commit to spending the first 90 minutes of your day on the most important (but not urgent) work.

Whether this is writing your book, building your side hustle, taking care of your body, investing time with your spouse and kids, or simply executing on the most difficult and important task in your business.

When you can own the first 90 minutes of your day and invest them into these important but not urgent tasks, you will break the needle in your life and propel yourself to new levels of success you previously thought impossible.

But here’s the deal…

I don’t want you to start with 90 minutes.

In fact, I don’t even want you to start with 30 minutes.

I want you to commit to only 15 minutes a day for the first 30 days of 2019.

Wake up just 15 minutes earlier each morning and invest those 15 minutes into your NUI (non-urgent, important) work.

Then, wake up 15 minutes earlier the next month and spend 30 minutes on this work.

Rinse and repeat this process until you are up before the sun and making HUGE moves in your life and business.

 

4. Remember the 3 Most Important Words in the World


If you take nothing else away from this article, I want you to remember this…

Environment. Is. Destiny.

If you want to do great things in 2019, if you want to increase your income, work less, expand your network, build your dream body, and make time for the people and activities that you love most, then you MUST put yourself into a more positive and inspiring environment.

Nothing will impact your happiness and success more than the people with whom you surround yourself and the places in which you live.

If you aren’t where you want to be in your life and business then pull out your phone right now and look at the last 10 people you texted.

That list could be the EXACT reason you haven’t reached your goals and aren’t living your Perfect Life.

If you aren’t intentionally surrounding yourself with people who push you to be better, who challenge you to grow, and who demand excellence from you, you will never reach the success you truly deserve.

Environment isn’t everything… It’s the ONLY thing that will get you to where you want to go.

You can read all of the self help and business books on the planet. You can watch all of the motivational videos you want. You can invest thousands of dollars into high end courses.

But if you are surrounding yourself with people who sabotage your dreams, lower your level of thinking, and encourage you to play small, you’ll never reach true greatness.

In 2019, you MUST commit to surrounding yourself with the right people and putting yourself in environments that are “rigged” for you to succeed.

Whether this means attending conferences, joining a mastermind, or moving to an entirely new city… DO IT!

Take the leap and ensure that your environment serves your goals and pushes you towards your perfect life.

I can promise, you won’t regret it.

 

5. Get Massive Accountability on Your Goals


The final step that you must take to make 2019 a MASSIVE success and ensure that you hit all of your biggest goals and dreams is to get massive accountability on your goals and dreams.

Here’s the thing…

We all “say” that we want to be successful.

We all say that we want to make more money, work less, start a weekly date night, develop a morning routine, and get in better shape.

But when it comes time to actually DO it, you can’t seem to consistently take the right actions.

The reasons is simple.  

You don’t have enough accountability around your goals.

When you are the only person to whom you are accountable, it’s easy to let things slide, to tell yourself, “Oh I’ll do this tomorrow”, or to excuse bad behavior because you’re only doing it “Just this one time”.

But when you flip the script and become massively accountable to someone you deeply do not want to disappoint, everything changes.

When you have a respected friend, mentor, or coach, keeping up with your progress, checking in on the actions you’ve taken, and encouraging you to make those big moves, it becomes HARDER to fail than it is to succeed.

Whether you need to hire a coach, reach out to a mentor, or set a friendly accountability challenge with a friend, you MUST become accountable to someone else if you want to achieve real success in 2019.

It’s the key to success for which you’ve desperately been searching.

And I promise, once you experience the power of true accountability… You will never go back.
