Why Dumb, Mean, and Corrupt People Attract Money

We all know someone who’s made a lot of money that — if we’re being honest — is not that smart.

You know who I’m talking about.

Sure, this person might have been smart enough to figure out how to sell a course online to a couple hundred thousand people — but ask them about politics, or science, or economics, or anything else and they freeze up.

“But they’re smart about business,” you say.

Are they really?

Or did they just follow some proven steps like a monkey trained to take people’s money on the strip in Vegas?

Maybe you disagree. Maybe you don’t know anyone who is “kind of dumb” that got rich.

But surely, you know someone who got rich that is not such a great person.

They cheat on their spouse or they try and scam people by making false claims about the products and services they provide — and yet, they’re driving a Porsche and spending their summers in Italy.

Why is it that these people — the mean and corrupt ones — attract money?

It’s not fair!

I read a really different article on Success.com today. The article listed 6 reasons why YOU CAN DO IT! — and by “do it,” the author means, get rich.

What made this article different was the list of reasons the author gave. Here are a few for context:

1.     The Spice Girls did it.
I want you to go listen to the song “Wannabe” (“I’ll tell you what I want what I really really want”) for as long as you can stand it. So like 17 seconds probably. Now realize that this song was (still is) the best-selling single by a female band in the history of the WORLD.
You can do it.

2.     Kim Kardashian did it.
Did what? Exactly.
If Kim Kardashian walked right past your face, you wouldn’t recognize her. She’s like 5 feet tall, three-fourths of her body weight is her butt, and here is a picture of her prior to her daily four hour makeup session. She’s just a regular person except with less obvious talent and probably lower IQ than you.
You can do it.

And the list goes on with similar reasons why YOU CAN DO IT!

I love the novelty of the article BUT I think it’s misguided.

If you believe that you can get rich based on those six reasons — I can almost guarantee that you WON’T get rich… ever.

Why? Because money doesn’t respect any of those reasons.

Money doesn’t care if you’re a nice person, if you go to church on Sundays, if you’re faithful to your partner, if you’re intelligent, if you’re talented…

Money will set fire to whatever is ready to be set on fire, says Dan Kennedy.

This is some tough news to hear on a Friday.

But once you accept this truth — that money doesn’t have ethics, that it doesn’t follow the smartest and nicest people because they’re smart and nice — you will start to understand why you’re not achieving the success you’ve dreamed of having and you’ll start seeing the real opportunities to make money.
