Today’s Words That Work: Transcendental
Archives: Daily Issues | Word to the Wise
Transcendental (tran-sen-DEN-tl) — from the Latin — means abstract or metaphysical; beyond ordinary or common experience.
Example (as used by PJ McClure today): “RB’s absence of purpose was just as fundamental to his old mindset as his lack of gratitude. I’m not just talking about some transcendental concept of purpose, but about a practical, down-to-earth purpose.”
I think I’ve heard a lot of people describe transcendental experiences without really understand what the word or the experience meant.
