Today’s Words That Work: Postmortem
Medically, a Postmortem (post-MAWR-tum) — from the Latin — is the examination of a body after death. We also use the word when talking about an evaluation or discussion of an event after it has occurred.
Example (as used by John Nyaradi today): “Successful traders don’t go back and look at trades they have sold to see how they ‘would’ve done.’ When a trade is over, it’s over. They don’t do a postmortem to see if they were ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ about the market.”
