Something that’s pernicious (per-NISH-us) — from the Latin for “to worry” — from the Latin for “ruin” — causes insidious harm.
Example (as used by PJ McClure today): “The most pernicious of all entrepreneurial ailments may be the inability to keep your attention focused on one idea at a time. And it can strike at without notice.”
