Loopy (LOO-pee) is a slangy word that means eccentric, crazy, or slightly batty. It can also mean befuddled or confused, especially as the result of being drunk.

Example (as used by Jason Goodwin in a NYT review of Instruments of Darkness by Imogen Robertson): “The plot is a little loopy, but the dialogue crackles along, and Robertson’s enjoyment of the period and her characters is infectious.”
