A town in Britain – Birmingham – has decreed that apostrophes will no longer be included in its road signs. They will be stripped off signs for Kings Norton, St. Pauls Square, and Druids Heath, among others.

The Birmingham City Council said the decision was based on an effort to keep the town’s signs uniform. Over the years, some have included apostrophes and others have not, which, the Council said, has confused visitors and residents alike.

Educators, scholars, and parents (and Early to Rise editors) are in an uproar.
