Bodyweight Metabolic Workout Finishers

His chrome dome was glistening. He was, as we Canadian Hillbillies would say, “givin’ er”.

It was 8:15am on the Saturday morning at the 2nd Turbulence Training Summit in San Diego, and over 23 personal trainers were going through a bootcamp workout under my watchful eye.

This included TT Trainer of the Year, Mike Whitfield. He was sweating up a storm and his trademarked Mr. Clean scalp was dripping sweat.

And then I handed center-stage over to him, so that he could share his legendary “Three’s Company” finisher with the group.

It went like this…

Mikey W’s “3’s Company Finisher”
– Do as many rounds as possible in 3 minute.
– Rest as little as possible.
– Go through the circuit doing 3 reps per exeoing 3 reps per exercise.

1A) Burpee-Spiderman Pushup (3 reps/side)
1B) Lunge Jump (3 reps/side)
1C) X-Body Mountain Climber (3 reps/side)

Of course, this was delivered only like Mikey “The 2nd Funniest Guy in Fitness Behind Only John Romaniello” Whitfield could.

You see, I didn’t give Mike the TT Trainer of the Year award just because he likes pancakes almost as much as I do.

Heck no.

He earned that award by practically inventing an entire new field of metabolic training – and by bringing workout finishers to the masses to help you lose fat FAST (while having a LOT of fun).

Mr. Finishers, Mike Whitfield, is almost single-handedly getting people to ditch interval training in exchange for his wild metabolic boosting finishers.

I usually just have a smirk on my face because there are so many crazy rep and set schemes I use when I write finishers.

But recently, I’ve been writing “Gauntlet” style finishers, which are quickly becoming my favorite. Check out this one:

Do the following circuit 3 times, resting for 1 minute  between circuits:

1A) Total Body Extension (20)
1B) Pushups (15)
1C) Total Body Extension (20)
1D) Bodyweight Chops (10/side)
1E) Total Body Extension (20)

I think your body is the most under-utilized piece of equipment you can ever use to burn more fat in less time.
