Banner ads are online ads that come in various sizes.  Some popular sizes include 300×250 (medium rectangle), 468×60 (full banner), 728×90 (leader boards), 120×600 (skyscraper), 125×125 (squares), 120×60 (button), and 120×240 (vertical).  Ads can be flat (no animation), animated (various frames), and flash.
