There are 3 sneaky food label lies stopping you from losing fat. It’s NOT fair, and today I’ll reveal them all. First, a quick personal story…
Last year my Mom went down to Texas. She got to visit Cowboys stadium and get her photo taken on the Big Blue Star at midfield. That was pretty cool because I was a HUGE Cowboys fan back in High School (even when the team went 1-15 in their first season with Troy Aikman).
But more importantly, Mom discovered that YES, everything is BIGGER in Texas. She could not believe the sizes of the meals. “There was too much food!” she said, when I asked about her trip. We all get tricked by this on a daily basis in Label Lie #1. It keeps us fat despite all of our hard work.
1) Serving Size Silliness
100-calorie servings have been one of the newest big bad Food Industry scams to hit the store shelves. Do you know how SMALL a 100-calorie serving of your favorite food will be? So tiny. It will not satisfy you.
And so…you will eat multiple 100-calorie servings of these addictive foods (see below for WHY they are addictive) and you’ll gain belly fat.
Please be careful. The best action to take is to AVOID foods from a bag or a box.
This trick was my downfall, too. Back in college I used to love trips home where I would gorge on “expensive” cereals (ha!), like granola, that
I couldn’t afford.
But I had no idea that I was eating 4 servings at time. There was over 1,000 calories in my bowl of cereal – and I would have two at a time! No wonder I gained about 10 pounds of belly fat in m first year. <= Embarrassing
On the bright side, that kick-started my decision to become a nutrition expert as well as a workout expert. It also led me to discover Label Lie #2…
2) The Food Companies Are Killing You With This Ingredient
This one makes me angry. You’ve probably heard that Trans-Fats are very bad for you. It’s true. There is NO healthy level of Trans-Fat intake. You need to avoid these at all costs. But here’s the problem…
You’ve also seen plenty of foods advertising that they are “Trans-Fat Free“. But this is a lie! You see, the big food companies lobbied the government and got a sneaky free pass on their claims.
A food is allowed to call itself Trans-Fat Free if it contains less than 0.5 grams of Trans-Fat per serving. <= Sneaky!
However, NO ONE eats just one serving of these foods. So even though you don’t know it, you are probably eating dangerous levels of Trans-Fats (through granola, peanut butter, crackers, cookies, chips, etc.). Not only will these foods make you fat, but they will kill your health.
3) The Hidden “Honey”
This is the 2nd biggest trick in the Food Industry’s toolbox. They have come up with 257 different names to hide this deadly ingredient that it’s no surprise that you have no idea foods are bad for you…
…but excess SUGAR is hiding on almost every label under the names:
– High Fructose Corn Syrup
– Organic Cane Juice
– Coconut Syrup
– Honey Powder
– Brown Rice Syrup
– Unrefined sugar
And on and on and on…
But sugar – in ALL of its forms – is killing us. It’s ADDICTIVE. Eat a little bit of it and you’ll just want more and more and more.
And when you don’t know that it is in a food, you get tricked into binge eating and gaining belly fat.
It’s NOT fair.
But here’s the WORST news…
Now that it’s summertime, your kids are at home, playing all day, and they need a quick snack. So-called Nutrition Experts will tell you to feed them this classic, but it’s really, really bad for them…Check this out:
STOP feeding this to your kids (why this snack is killing them)
Ask any politically correct (and often surprisingly overweight) nutritionist for a “healthy” snack option and they will tell you to feed your kids Peanut Butter and Crackers, but knowing what you know now about Label Lies, would you feed your child this?
Enriched Flour (Wheat Flour, Niacin, Reduced Iron, Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin B1), Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Folic Acid), Soybean Oil, Salt, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Partially Hydrogenated Cottonseed Oil, Malted Barley Flour, Baking Soda, Vegetable Monoglycerides (Emulsifier).
That’s the ingredient list of a “simple” Saltine cracker. YIKES!
It contains many poisons – Flour, soybean oil, salt, high fructose corn syrup, and hydrogenated cottonseed oil.
Crackers are terrible for your kids – and for you.
This is NOT fair.
This is why the big bad Food Industry is so shady.
Their goal is to create ADDICTIVE foods with cheap ingredients so they can get you to buy more and eat more. They have your WORST interests in mind. So what’s the solution? Find out easy alternatives.
