Protect Yourself From the Flu … and the Vaccine

By Melanie Segala

By Melanie Segala

Media chatter about the expected flu pandemic has been ramping up lately.

Could it be because of “Big Pharma”? Pharmaceutical giants like Baxter and Novartis are preparing for mass inoculations against H1N1 (swine) flu by this fall.

A while back, a batch of Baxter’s seasonal flu vaccine was “accidentally” contaminated with the human form of the deadly avian flu virus. It was then distributed to 18 countries. This virus has a 60 percent kill rate. And if a lab in the Czech Republic hadn’t discovered it, this “mistake” could have resulted in millions of deaths.

When I heard about the contamination, I made a decision to avoid getting a flu shot. I have also warned friends and family that a mild case of the flu ultimately may be safer than the long- term effects of the vaccine.

And now I have news to share that may protect you from the flu itself.

I recently read an article by John J. Cannell, MD. Dr. Cannell is a psychiatrist at Atascadero State Hospital in California. In 2005, an influenza A epidemic broke out in the hospital. One by one, each ward became infected. Patients came down with chills, fever, cough, and severe body aches.

Only one ward remained free of infection: Dr. Cannell’s.

Why? His patients intermingled with patients from other wards. And they were not noticeably different in terms of age, health, or medical treatment.

The only difference? Dr. Cannell’s patients had been receiving a daily dose of 2,000 IU of vitamin D for several months. That’s it. All his patients took vitamin D. And not one caught the flu!

Dr. Cannell’s research then led him to some remarkable discoveries… including one about the effectiveness of vitamin D as a potent antibiotic and antiviral. Vitamin D boosts the body’s production of antimicrobial peptides. This class of proteins quickly destroys the cell walls of bacteria, viruses (including influenza), and fungi. They also keep the lungs free from infection.

But that’s not all. While vitamin D destroys flu-causing viruses, it simultaneously performs another life-saving function. It prevents the immune system from producing a dangerous amount of inflammatory chemicals (cytokines) that attack sensitive respiratory membranes. Cytokines are an important part of your immune system. But in severe cases of the flu, their production spirals out of control, causing high fever and extreme fatigue. In fact, in most cases, this “cytokine storm” is the actual cause of death .

Vitamin D can be taken as a supplement. But the best source of vitamin D is moderate and consistent sun exposure.

The Anti-“Fix and Flip” Foreclosure Profits System

Thousands of entrepreneurs are buying and trying to “flip” foreclosures these days.

But one man has made $3.2 million in foreclosures by refusing to jump on the “fix and flip” bandwagon. He has learned to approach the market in a whole new way.

Go against the “crowd” with him, and learn how you could make thousands a week on “autopilot” with virtually zero risk… a few hundred in start up capital… all while working from home for just an hour day on your home computer.

You can get started today.

According to Dr. Al Sears, Chairman of the Board of A dvisors for Total Health Breakthroughs, sun exposure :

  • Increases the number of disease-fighting white blood cells in the body.
  • Increases the oxygen-carrying capacity of the blood. This helps fight cancer and stimulate immunity.
  • Moderates and down-regulates your immune response. (It is the over-activity of the immune system that is responsible for autoimmune diseases.)

Our prehistoric ancestors wore loin cloths and spent most of their time out doors. With only 20 minutes of full body exposure to strong sunlight, they were able to synthesize as much as 20,000 units of vitamin D within 48 hours. That exposure gave mankind built-in immunity to contagious diseases.

Compare that to the way society has evolved. We spend most of our time indoors. And when we do spend time outside, most people slather their skin with sun block. Which means even less vitamin D for our already deficient bodies.

No wonder influenza continues to be a plague.

It is an established fact that most of us are deficient in vitamin D. Says Dr. Sears, “Vitamin D deficiency is truly reaching a crisis. One recent study suggests that more than 1 billion people worldwide are deficient in this vital nutrient.”

There is absolutely no doubt that sunlight is the best source of vitamin D. But most people cannot get enough from sun exposure alone. Either our lifestyle and work schedule does not allow us to spend enough time in the sun. Or, for those who live in a northern (or far southern) climate, the sun is too low in the sky most of the year to produce adequate vitamin D. The elderly and those with dark skin are also at much greater risk of deficiency.

This means most people should be supplementing with vitamin D. Knowing this, I recently began taking 2,000 units per day. (Though I live in Florida, I’m not outdoors as much as I would like to be.)

Dr. Sears – along with ETR Health Editor Jon Herring – has put together a powerful expose that explains why most medical professionals are so against sunshine. And why they’re dead wrong.

But that’s not all. Jon and Dr. Sears also advise you on:

  • The test you need to determine your optimal level of vitamin D
  • How much you should be taking to keep your levels in the normal range
  • How to know if you are at risk for deficiency
  • Which brands offer the highest quality, most active form of vitamin D
  • Take the time to educate yourself about vitamin D and the natural healing power of the sun. You’ll be one step ahead of the flu … and the vaccine.

Don’t Believe What You Hear About a Housing Recovery

By Christian Hill
Investor’s Daily Edge

If you have seen the recent headlines in the mainstream media, you might be inclined to believe that the housing market has finally found a bottom. Various reports cite increases in sales, slight increases in sales prices, and reduced inventory. These are the three factors needed for any housing recovery to begin. Throw in the first-time homebuyer tax credit, and we may have a winning formula.

But there are some overlooked problems with this belief. The first is that while monthly sales of existing homes have improved (on a seasonally-adjusted basis) the overall numbers are still worse than last year, one of the worst years on record for the housing market.

The next problem we face is that inventory levels are still quite high. According to the National Association of Realtors, we are down from the peak of 11 months of backed up inventory, during parts of 2008. But today’s inventory level of 9.4 months is about to get a lot worse. Here’s why: Banks are sitting on their REOs (real estate owned a.k.a foreclosures) and are not re-listing many of these properties. They don’t want to flood the market and drive down prices even further. But how long they will hold on to this “shadow inventory”? That is anyone’s guess. But there is no doubt that a significant backlog of properties will eventually hit the market.

The final blow to any hopes of a current housing recovery are mounting foreclosures. The Obama administration’s “Making Homes Affordable” program has had abysmal results. And there is mounting evidence that lenders are simply unwilling to modify most loans, since most modified loans end up right back in foreclosure after a few months.

The housing market still has some serious challenges ahead. And while we may see a small increase in prices here and there, the fundamentals are still garbage. I am not saying that you shouldn’t buy a home right now, either as an investment or as a primary residence. There are screaming buys out there right now. And with a long-term outlook, real estate is still a great buy. Just don’t expect to be able to buy a property today and flip it for a big profit in the next twelve months. We will still face an arduous recovery ahead in residential real estate.

If You Want People to Listen to You… Follow the Rule of Three

By Michael Masterson

Professional speakers follow what is known as “the Rule of Three”:

  1. Tell them what you are going to tell them.
  2. Tell it to them.
  3. Tell them what you just told them.

The same rule applies to all communications, including any sort of writing you expect people to read: your business memos, your editorial essays, and your sales copy. (It even applies to novels and poetry – but we’ll get to that some other time.)

The reason this rule works universally is because it is based on the way the human brain functions. The two lower brains – the reptilian and limbic brains – absorb, on a “gut” level, every experience we are exposed to. The higher brain – the neocortical brain – filters out 90 percent of the information we are exposed to so we can make “rational” decisions.

In other words, much of what the thinking brain does when confronted with new information is figure out what it can ignore.

So if you want people to listen to what you’re saying or read what you’ve written, you’ve got to get – and hold – the brain’s attention. And you do that by:

  1. Telling them what you are going to tell them.
  2. Telling it to them.
  3. Telling them what you just told them.

Here’s how the “Rule of Three” applies to sales copy: To get a prospect’s attention, and persuade him to keep reading, the copywriter must make him feel that he is about to learn something that will benefit him in some way. That’s the function of the headline and lead.

Compare these two headlines:

  • 5 Reasons Why Greenland Has Become the #1 Travel Destination for Adventure Lovers
  • Greenland Grabs the Hearts of Outdoor Adventurers

When a prospect reads the first headline, he knows where the copywriter is taking him. He knows he will be “sold” on Greenland. But his interest is piqued. There are apparently five reasons why he might want to go to Greenland … and if he keeps reading, he’ll find out what they are.

When a prospect reads the second headline – again, he knows (or suspects) he is going to be sold on Greenland. But this time, he has no incentive to take the time to read on … so he probably won’t bother.

This is just one of dozens of tips, techniques, and strategies that can help you create powerful and persuasive copy, whether you use that copy to raise money for a business venture… sell more of your company’s products… get a better job… or launch a six-figure copywriting career. And every one of these strategies is explained in fine detail in AWAI’s completely upgraded Accelerated Program for Six-Figure Copywriting. Learn how to become more persuasive and more successful here.

The flu shots are really pushed at my office, but I’m able to avoid them. Here in Texas you can have your children “opted-out” for vaccinations with a doctor’s note. I’ve not had a flu shot for a few years, but when I did get them, I still got sick. DUH.

Additionally, they bring in health screenings that feature that ruse of all ruses in health, cholesterol screenings. Of course, your numbers usually come in “in the danger zone,” so they tell you RUN TO YOUR DOCTOR RIGHT NOW AND GET A STATIN DRUG!!! So, I avoid the health screenings too. . . .

Gotta be proactive, educate yourself and beware of what’s being proffered by your doctor courtesy of Big Pharma.

  2. Jody Vogler says:

I’m a nurse and they are strong-arming us to get the seasonal flu vaccine. If I don’t get it I’ll have to wear a mask all the time. I worked tonight and had to wear a mask. I don’t think I’ll be able to do that until the end of March. What can I do to protect myself if I do get the vaccine?
