For some reason, I erroneously thought the "sell the sizzle, not the steak" quote was coined by J.Walter Thompson or David Ogilvy or one of those other advertising legends, but everywhere I looked on the Internet, including "EarlyToRise.com", it said that Elmer Wheeler originated it.

Anyway, I recently wrote an article on my web site called, "(13)Marketing Blunders You Can Avoid", and I'm going to link it to this useful marketing article by John Wood. His article does an excellent job of distilling some of Elmer Wheeler's valuable sales and marketing wisdom. If entrepreneurs would consistently apply these principles -- which they don't -- it would dramatically improve their sales volume and bottom line profits.
