Bravo Marie! If only I had implemented that same strategy 10 years ago, I wouldn't be living in fear from day to day wondering if I'm going to make it, or lose the shirt of my back, and the roof over my head. As much as I loved the guy, I have to say that although, good intentioned, President Regan did a terrible misservice to the middle class American. The "baby boomers." He made it so easy for us to get and use credit, and so we did. The whole pack of us, with nearly a handful who might not have, such as yourself. It's just a sinful shame, honestly, and prayer is truly the only thing that's going to get us out of this economic mess. So to all of you that are reading this, please, if you aren't one of us, pray anyway, and pray for those of us who are. Thanks!

I have not had a charge card since 1986. I also use just my checking account to pay bills, I do not shop online, and do not have a debit card, or any cards where the interest rate or yearly charges would take more money from me.
I consolidate my trips to the market. and try not to use my car one day a week if possible to save on gas. ALSO, I buy things like vegetables that I can make into large pots of food and then use them through out the week. I eat meat products and or poultry perhaps one day a week, and rely on just the olive oil and garlic and my favorite vegetables to be my main source of foods. I also do not drink soft drinks. I do not have much of a savings account, however, the fact that i do not have charge card helps me out. others i know are now struggling to pay down their charges. I would say do the same. if you do not need an item, do not buy it. if you have a children, see if someone you know has clothing there children out grow and offer them some money for those clothes, most times they will be happy to give them to you for free.
buy good shoes, and warm coat and hat and keep them clean and neat, and also make sure that you also PRAY.
THANK YOU.
