Thanks, I enjoyed reading your article. Years ago, and I am almost ashamed to admit, it has been many years ago, I used a very similar method of setting goals. (I even gave a few motivation seminars myself!). However, I have gotten away from it and as a result, I have become a real procrastinator. So, THANKS AGAIN! I needed to read and see that it still works. Now, I just have to get back on track, and get my motor started again. So, beginning now I'll start with small, easily attainable goals to rebuild my self-deflated confidence and motivation. Then go from there, like they say, "you can't run until you walk," or something like that. I may be retired, but I don't have to be "RETIRED."

Thanks Michael, some great tips in this article.

I use a very similar system, but you have mentioned some fantastic worthwhile tweaks too, which I'll get on with now. - Many thanks.

All the Best,

Mr. Masterson,

I just wanted to say thanks to you for your wisdom and guidance that gets delivered every morning via the Early To Rise e-newsletter. My wife will concede I have tried every planning system under the sun and could probably open my very own used planner store.

Most would be in mint condition because I only gave a “token” effort at using them and then…well then NOTHING!!! I stopped using them. It became very comical for awhile when I would try the next best ‘system’ to try and stay organized.

A few years back when I became an avid ETR reader and supporter I began to follow your system. I started from my Master 5 year plan and worked my way backwards until I had it down to tiny tasks. I even used the 3x5 cards and carried them with me everywhere as it was becoming an inviting profitable organizing habit as it gained daily traction.

Then I stumbled [it’s easy to stumble across great ideas in ETR] across the ETR Total Success Achievement program from ETR with Bob & Karin Cox and that has been like the Solid Rocket Fuel they use in the space shuttle. It brought together 2 great coaches and of course the daily use of the Early To Rise Daily Planner that helps organize and plan everything from year to month to week to the daily tasks and even has a place to time plan each task. IT IS AWESOME!!

I never leave home without it and it is so valuable to me and my rising success along with the great coaching in the ETR Total Success Achievement Program with Bob & Karin, my life is changed forever and I owe it to you Mr. Masterson and everyone at ETR, Thank You!

Sincerely Yours,

Bob Newhart
A Lifetime ETR fan & Supporter!

I make a daily to do-list and try to plan this with the exact hours next to it. But there are a lot of things that come in-between.
I'm going to just make this to do list woth next to it the time it will take for each task; all this based on my yearly and monthly goals.
